iPad Launcher Configuration and Login

Thinkers can participate in ThinkTank Sessions using the ThinkTank iPad app available from the Apple App Store. This topic provides an overview of technical requirements, ThinkTank iPad app installation process, and configuration/login steps.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

To ensure proper performance, please check that your iPad software is up-to-date. Your iPad should be upgraded to Apple iOS 8 or iOS 9 operating system. Please note that the ThinkTank 6 iPad Launcher app  will be available shortly after the release of ThinkTank 6.0.

Note: ThinkTank 5.x ipad Launcher  will be available for a limited amount of time for customers who do not immediately upgrade to ThinkTank 6.0.

When joining a ThinkTank session for the first time on an iPad, first download the ThinkTank application from the iTunes App Store (ThinkTank 5.x iPad Launcher app shown below).

To download the ThinkTank Application:

  1. Tap on the App Store icon to open iTunes. Type "ThinkTank" in the search window.
  2. Tap the Install button next to the ThinkTank application.
  3. The ThinkTank application downloads and appears as an icon on the iPad’s home screen.

You can update the ThinkTank Application on the iPad using the same process as with other applications.

To check for app updates:

Look at the App Store icon on the home screen. If it has a red circle with a number in it in the upper right corner, then you need to update some apps.

To update applications:

  1. Tap on the App Store icon if it shows that any apps need to be updated.
  2. Tap on the Updates icon in the bottom right of the App Store screen.
  3. Tap the Update All option.
  4. Type your Apple ID and Password in the box.
  5. Wait for the updates to download and install. This may take several minutes.

After the updates have downloaded and installed properly, the red circle with the number will disappear from the App Store icon and all your applications should now be up-to-date.

Participants can join Sessions as guests or Account Holders:

  • Guest is a user who does not have an assigned username and password.
  • Account Holder is a user who has an established ThinkTank account with a username and password.

When joining a session in ThinkTank for the first time, information must be entered in the Configure iPad screen. It will be saved and used for subsequent logins.

Note: The following iPad Launcher screenshots are from the upcoming iPad Launcher app for ThinkTank 6.x.

 

To configure the iPad when logging in as a Guest:

  1. Tap to enter the ThinkTank URL. If it is unknown, please contact the Session Leader or Workspace Administrator.

Note: Be careful to enter the exact URL. If it is incorrectly entered; the application may appear to have configured, but ThinkTank will not work.

  1. Select Guest from the Login Type button, shown below.

  1. When the Guest option is selected, Thinkers must provide their work E-mail address. The e-mail address must be a registered domain in the ThinkTank Workspace.
  2. Click Done to save the changes for future use, and the Join Session as a Guest window opens.

 

To join a Session as a Guest:

  1. Tap on the ThinkTank app icon.
  2. Enter a Screen Name which is how users will appear to others in the application.
  3. Enter the Session ID which is the identification number of the session you are attending. Your session Leader will provide this.
  4. Enter the Passkey which is the numerical password for the session you are attending.
  5. Click Join. If the Server URL or the Login Type needs to be changed, click Configure at the upper right:

Configure Settings

Tap the "Configure" button to change the settings when joining a Session as a Guest.

  1. Tap in the ThinkTank URL field. Please be careful to enter the exact URL. If it is incorrectly entered; the application may appear to have configured, but ThinkTank will not work.
  2. To change the Login Type, select Guest from the button drop-down.
  3. Type an E-mail to use (typically, your work address).
  4. Tap Done to save the changes for future use.

When joining a session in ThinkTank for the first time, information must be entered in the Configure iPad screen. It will be saved and used for subsequent logins.

Note: The following iPad Launcher screenshots are from the upcoming iPad Launcher app for ThinkTank 6.x.

To configure the iPad when logging in as an Account Holder:

  1. Tap in the ThinkTank URL field, and then type the URL.
  2. Select Account Holder from the Login Type button, shown below:

  1. Enter the assigned Username.
  2. Enter the Password.
  3. Click Done to save the changes for future use, and the Join Session as an Account Holder window opens.

To join a Session as an Account Holder:

  1. Enter the Session ID which is the identification number of the session you are attending. Your session Leader will provide this.
  2. Enter the Passkey which is the password for the session you are attending.
  3. Click on Join.
  4. Alternatively, click on Go to my Home, where you can manage your Sessions, find ThinkApps, or create a new Session.

Configure Settings

Tap the Configure button to change the settings when joining a Session as an Account Holder.

  1. Tap in the ThinkTank URL field, and then type the URL.
  2. To change the Login Type, select Account Holder from the drop-down.
  3. Provide a Username and Password to use.
  4. Click Done to save the changes for future use.
